In this video, I will demonstrate how to setup the Microsoft Authenticator on Android and connect it with your 365 account.
First we start on your Android phone, and open the Play Store App… Tap “Search” and enter Microsoft Authenticator.
We’re looking for an app with a blue padlock with a person in it… Once found, tap the install button.
I will pause the recording while I’m waiting for it to install.
Open the Microsoft Authenticator app. You might need to Allow the Authenticator to send you notifications and Accept the Privacy Statement.
Press Continue to enter the application for the first time, and tap the Skip button in the top right corner.
Here, you can either press the Plus icon in the top right corner of the screen or you can also tap the Add account button in the middle of the screen if it’s your first time using this app.
If this account is provided by your work place or school, tap “Work or school account”, or if this is your own personal account, maybe through Outlook or live.com choose “Personal Account”.
On your windows PC, open a web browser and go to https, colon, double forward slash, login dot Microsoft online dot com.
Enter your 365 email address and click next
Enter your password and click Sign in
You should see the following message, “Let’s keep your account secure”, this indicates that you need to setup a multi-factor method on your account. Click next
We have already installed the app on the phone earlier in this video, click next and you will see a QR code that will need to be scanned using your mobile phone.
Back on the mobile phone.
Select Scan a QR code. You may need to allow the authenticator to take pictures and record video While Using this App. Now scan the QR code on the mobile phone
Back on Windows.
Click Done.
You will be presented with a number that will need to be entered in the app to confirm it is setup correctly.
On your mobile.
Enter the number shown in the web browser and tap “yes” to confirm it is you.
